Dr. Sang W. Kim, collaborated on a clinical study on lip enhancement to determine the threshold between natural and artificial results. The results of the study were published on the 6th of April in the peer-reviewed Journal of the American Medical Society.
Dr. Kim knows that lip enhancement should not be performed strictly by defined guidelines, but rather based on the anatomy, age and cosmetic needs of the individual.
The intent of the study was to provide plastic surgeons with a new toolset for discussing lip enhancement with their patients. In this way, thresholds that are considered the ideal line between natural and artificial results provides a starting point for patient discussions.
The study revealed that the perception of natural-appearing results from lip enhancement varies from patient-to-patient as well as within certain age groups. Participants also noted key differences when considering specific areas of the lips.
His work has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, Marie Claire, Allure, Cosmetic Surgery Times, San Diego Union-Tribune, HealthDay, Orlando Sentinel and Physician’s Weekly.

Whether seeking treatment for unsightly blemishes or potentially malignant skin problems, the average Central New York patient may have a hard time scheduling a timely appointment with a dermatologist. According to a recent study published in JAMA Dermatology, Syracuse patients wait, on average, 146 days to see these specialists.
The long waits are characteristic of a shortage of dermatologists across the nation, as accredited residency programs have not produced enough of these medical specialists to keep up with rising demand. Dermatologists in the Central New York region are aware of this issue and have made great strides to accommodate the overwhelming number of patients—especially when timely treatment is crucial.
Unfortunately, the news comes at a time when skin cancer rates across the country continue to skyrocket. Over the past few decades, the rising popularity of tanning beds and bronzed skin has prompted sun worshippers nationwide to increase their UV exposure—leading to increased risks of cancer. Currently, the American Academy of Dermatology estimates that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer at some point in their lives. Click here to read more…

Thinning hair isn’t something you have to live with. Trust Dr. Kim’s expertise to help you move on from the shame of hair loss.
Imagine a scenario where you’ve experienced an extensive amount of hair loss over the last couple of years. While it may be easier for men to continue going about their lives with hair loss, women with thinning hair feel obligated to hide their condition out of shame.
This topic is explored in “Hair Restoration Surgery: 2014,” an article published by the Journal of the American Medical Association Facial Plastic Surgery, a specialty circulation, authored by Sang W. Kim, M.D. of the Syracuse Hair Transplant at Natural Face™ Clinics and Daniel E. Rousso, M.D., F.A.C.S.
According to the article, more than half of the world’s male population experiences hair loss by the age of 40. The condition, known as androgenetic alopecia, or AGA, is the most common form of hair loss affecting men.
According to the article, androgenetic alopecia is found more often in men than women because it is a condition caused by one of the testosterone byproducts. Consequently, the condition is also referred to as male pattern hair loss.
Women, however, also lose their hair. According to Kim’s article, 32.2 percent of women over the age of 20 are experiencing alopecia. Due to social pressures and strict standards of female beauty, most women with receding hairlines feel ashamed, embarrassed, and can’t seem to find attractive options for treatment.
