Feeling Confidence

Looking Natural

Trusted Expertise

Transform your facial plastic surgery journey into a peaceful retreat. The noise, the people and pressure of the face-paced environment of the city can be a hurdle to the quiet, stress-free recovery that facial procedures demand. By choosing to have your procedure in Syracuse, you can trade the city's frantic pace for a tranquil, quiet, private sanctuary designed for healing.

Benefits of getting away from the city for surgery and recovery

Privacy and Discretion:

Recovering away from home provides total anonymity. You can navigate the initial stages of swelling and bruising without the scrutiny of neighbors, colleagues, or social circles.

Focusing on yourself:

Being away from the daily responsibilities of home—like chores or childcare—allows you to focus entirely on rest and recovery. Some people might think that staying at home for recovery would be a more comfortable option, but you will find out that being away at our guest house is far more relaxing and less stressful.

More cost effective:

We have our own AAAHC-accredited surgical facility, and amenities which allow us to achieve lower overhead than comparable options in New York City. Our fees include the surgeon fee, facility and anesthesia, and "COMPREHENSIVE" package including accommodation, post op care, and nursing care.

Syracuse NY:

A 4-hours away by a car, or 1-hour non-stop flight away from New York City. You will be staying at our guest house during your recovery. The house is thoughtfully tailored to accommodate you during recovery from the surgery. It is located in the village of Fayetteville, a 10-minute drive from our office, and we will take care of your transportation between the guest house and the office. There are parks and restaurants within a short walk.

Planning & Scheduling Your Procedure

For our NYC patients, the process begins with a virtual pre-consultation appointment with one of our consultants. The purpose of this encounter is to make the in-person consultation with Dr. Kim as streamlined and meaningful as we can. Depending on the scope of what you are seeking, we want to adequately allot the time for the in-person visit with Dr. Kim at our Manhattan office.

During the pre-consultation appointment, we can provide scope of the cost of the treatment/surgery, but the actual financial statement will be provided only after Dr. Kim has had a visit with you in person and formal treatment plan has been formulated.

Once you and Dr. Kim determine the surgical plan, our concierge staff will help you to coordinate all of your travel and pre-surgical to-do’s (for example, medical clearance).

Traveling to Syracuse NY

Most patients require a stay of at least 7–14 days, depending on the procedure. If you are booking a return flight, it is a good idea to secure travel insurance in case you need to stay a few days longer than the initial plan.

It would be helpful to have someone stay with you for the first 24–72 hours after surgery. This could be a friend, or a family member. If you plan to travel alone, we will arrange a recovery nurse for the night after the surgery. In New York State, it is required that if you had surgery with anesthesia and had surgery with anesthesia you have to have someone travel with you after being discharged and stay with you the first night of surgery.

Rest and Recovery

The first week after your procedure should be routine-based, hopefully relaxing and peaceful.

Sleep:

You might wake up feeling slightly stiff or tight. We have prepared for you a Sleep Number mattress bed at our guest house. This mattress allows you to set individual firmness, and also senses your movement and pressure points throughout the night and adjusts the firmness automatically. The mattress also allows incline to help elevate the head of the bed. If you are unfamiliar with the Sleep Number system, you are in for a treat.

Diet:

Breakfast should be soft foods that don’t require heavy chewing but rich in lean protein for healing (Greek yogurt, oatmeal, protein smoothies).

Drink plenty of hydration, and also fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables reduce inflammation, support collagen production, and also help clear bruises faster. Berries, pineapple, citrus fruits (oranges, lemons), and apples with high fiber are good examples. Dark leafy greens like spinach, kale with vitamin K and A, carrots, bell pepper, and broccoli are good examples.

We want to avoid chewing too much, so steamed (or microwave frozen vegetables), or blended in smoothies are great ways to intake these foods.

Activities:

You can catch up on reading, listening to audiobooks, or watching movies. You can spend time relaxing and meditating. At our guest house, we have prepared an outdoor sitting area to help you get fresh air, but do avoid midday direct sunlight. Some patients may need to continue their work productivity during this time. This is okay, but you may not have as much energy during this time, and also be vigilant with the position of your head if you are working on your computer or phone. Avoid staring down at a screen for a long period after the surgery.

A gentle 5-minute slow lap around the house or backyard in the morning will get your blood flowing and prevent stiffness. We have also prepared for you a full-body massage chair with walking-motion and stretch movement in our guest house. This will help you maintain muscle tone and also with relaxation during your recovery period.

Post op follow-up

All the supplies for the wound care will be provided to you. Depending on the surgery, you will need an office visit one-day after surgery, one week after surgery, and/or 2 weeks after the surgery. If you are flying back to NYC, we will arrange the transportation so that you can leave for the airport after the post-op visit.

We have arranged a post-op protocol with MD Hyperbaric - Syracuse specifically for our facial surgery patients. MD Hyperbaric offers a medical-grade hard-shell chamber at higher ATA than most office-based hyperbaric treatments. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been shown to accelerate wound healing, and reduce recovery time.

Continued in-person visit at our Manhattan office

More patients are considering traveling for cosmetic surgery. With careful planning, support, and post-op care, many patients experience smooth recovery and satisfying results. However, to ensure long-term aesthetic results it is absolutely important to continue with follow-up beyond the initial recovery. While you may feel “back to normal” after the first 1-month mark, it is critical to assess how your deep tissues are settling and healing. Incision scar can take up to a year to remodel, and there are active treatments you may need to ensure you have the best outcome. During the later part of the healing (1 month - 1 year), massaging technique, or minor office-based treatment may be necessary.

It is difficult to assess these remotely or virtually. Continued in-person follow-up with Dr. Kim at our Manhattan office ensures that we monitor your progress until the final visit at around the 1-year mark.
